The 1500m is a rhythm event, but it is also tactical. A good 1500m race is not only about average pace. The important questions are: how controlled was the first 400m, how much pressure was applied through the middle 700m, and how much speed was available in the final 400m or final 300m?
Why 400m and 300m splits both matter
The 1500m does not divide cleanly into four 400m laps. That is why this calculator shows both 400m rhythm and the final 300m. A runner may look strong through 1200m, but the last 300m often reveals whether the pace was sustainable or whether the athlete waited too long.
Why 1100m is useful
The 1100m checkpoint shows the start of the final 400m. In championship racing, this is often where the race truly changes. A runner who reaches 1100m under control can attack the final lap instead of simply trying to survive it.
