800m pacing rationale

The 800m is rarely just a simple even-paced run. It combines speed, speed endurance, aerobic power, lactate tolerance, and tactical positioning. Many successful 800m races use a slightly faster first lap followed by a controlled deceleration.

Why the first 400m is often faster

A faster first lap helps the runner establish position, use speed reserve, and avoid being boxed in. But if the first 400m is too aggressive, the final 200m can fall apart.

Why the 600m checkpoint matters

In many 800m races, the real decision point happens between 500m and 650m. This is where athletes either maintain mechanics, respond to pressure, or begin to lose rhythm.
