Is Christian Coleman banned for doping?

The clear answer is, No. He is not banned for doping. But yes, he is banned for whereabouts failure. To make things clear, his ban was reduced to November 2021 and he may return to competition at World Indoor Championships 2022, Belgrade Serbia and/or World Outdoors Track and Field Championships 2022, Oregon, USA.

What was the ban about? Was Christian Coleman avoiding dope test?

Christian has NEVER tested positive for any banned substance. And according to the CAS panel of arbitrators there was no evidence that Christian Coleman avoiding to be tested. Here is the official CAS decision.

“The Athlete was not at home during the 60-minute time slot on the day of the out-of-competition doping control (9 December 2019), as he should have been, and the Athlete should have been on ‘high-alert’ on that day, given the two existing whereabout failures against him. On the other hand, however, had the Athlete been called by the Doping Control Officer, he would have been able to return to his apartment during the 60-minute window and a test would have been concluded. Although a telephone call during the 60-minute window was not required by the rules, it was nevertheless reasonable for the Athlete to expect such a call, as a matter of standard practice among other Doping Control Officers.”

The chances of Christian Coleman winning both Indoors and Outdoors Track and Field Championships 2022

With the emergence of Fred Kerley in the 100m, Trayvon Bromell‘s return to 60m and 100m, the path to Outdoors 100m and Indoor 60m World Championship title has become harder than before. However, the World Record holder in the 60m has a very good chance to defend his 60m and 100m titles respectively.
